THE HAMILTON’S CHILDREN’S GARDEN AT SAN DIEGO BOTANIC GARDEN (formerly Quail Botanical Gardens)
This award winning project was designed in a collaborative effort between Dugmore Design Studio and Deneen, Powell Atelier, and also included a full range of engineering services. The Hamilton’s Children’s Garden is a state of the art interactive garden for children which opened in June of 2009. This garden is more than one acre in size with a construction budget of 3.5 million dollars for the first phase. In 2009, the Hamilton’s Children’s Garden project won an Orchid Award from the San Diego Architects Foundation sponsored “Orchid and Onions Awards”; an Honor Award from the San Diego Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects Design Awards Program; and a Landscape Design Commendation was presented to the entire San Diego Botanic Garden from the Landscape Design Council of the California Garden Clubs, Inc.
SEEDS OF WONDER CHILDREN’S GARDEN AT SAN DIEGO BOTANIC GARDEN (formerly Quail Botanical Gardens)
The Seeds of Wonder Garden opened in April of 2003 at Quail Botanical Gardens and provides a preview to some of the concepts contained in the larger Hamilton’s Children’s Garden design. We provided full design, construction documentation, and construction observation services for the project. This project received the San Diego Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects Honor Award in December of 2003. It was the highest level award given in 2003.
